Shiseido Professional Stage Works Powder Shake Review
The product I’m going to introduce today is Shiseido’s Stage Works Powder Shake. Hmm, can someone like me who doesn’t use styling products review this properly? I’m a bit nervous.
Let’s start with the basics of the Shiseido Stage Works Powder Shake!
To change up your hairstyle without sacrificing texture… for a soft style with more volume… to style short or long hair quickly and without fuss… this is the styling product for you!
With moisture-regulator (malitol) and texture-maintaining powder
Stage Works products all contain a moisture-regulator which protect your hair from outside moisture. They also have a porous powder that absorbs sebum like a sponge to prevent greasiness and keep your hair in place for longer (info via pro.shiseido.co.jp)
The bottle contains 150ml. There’s a ball inside to prevent the powder solidifying, so when you shake the bottle there’s a rattling sound.
Stage Works Powder Shake bottle design
The design is cool, right? It has grooves so it sits easily in your hand and doesn’t slip. Just as I’d expect from Shiseido (^_−)−☆
This is what it looks like when you open it:
How to use the Stage Works Powder Shake
For basic instructions please check out this video. Once again my daughter helped me out with this review!
1. Shake the bottle thoroughly
This is her hair with no product in.
2. Spray the product onto dry hair (6-10 squirts).
3. Rub in and tease the hair into shape with your fingers
Moving her hair with my fingers, it felt very soft to the touch. The picture below shows the curls we made by applying the spray to the ends of her hair. It made some nice waves in her hair.
Now it’s my turn!
1. I sprayed the product on the front and sides of my hair.
2. For some reason I made a mistake and used my hairdryer a bit (#^.^#)
3. Although I have a straight perm, I managed to get a wave in my hair too.
It worked despite my mistake with the hairdryer. The scent reminds me of a hair salon. Right after I’d used it my hair felt a little bit heavy, but I stopped noticing after a while. There was no feeling of stickiness.
I think it’s best to stick to the recommended 6-10 pumps. Too little and you don’t get the soft, voluminous look. I didn’t put enough on the sides of my hair so the wave wasn’t very noticeable.
My first impressions of the Shiseido Professional Stage Works Powder Shake
I say it a lot, but recently beauty products are becoming so easy to use, it’s hard to get it wrong. ♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪
It was the first time that I’d used this kind of styling spray, so I tried it in the evening. I was afraid of using it for the first time just before I had to go out for the day. But it turned out just fine.
So my overall impression of the Stage Works Powder Shake is that it was easier to use than I thought. However, it might work better for people with short hair. Both my daughter and I have long hair, and it was a bit difficult for us to style details like the fringe.
The reason I normally avoid styling products is that they tend to leave my hair feeling sticky or hard, which I really don’t like. But this time I saw that I didn’t need to worry about those things. Also when I washed my hair afterwards, I just used the same shampoo as normal to remove the product.
From now on I’d like to challenge myself to try out some other hairstyling products! ٩( ‘ω’ )و In fact, the Shiseido Professional Stage Works has a whole line of products for different uses, so one of them could be perfect for me!
