Kose Sports Beauty UV Wear
Guys… Kyoto is boiling hot recently (◎_◎;)
Every day it’s 38 degrees or above. But recently Gion Matsuri was held – one of the most important festivals in Japan.
During the festival, these floats can be seen all around the centre of Kyoto. I hope you guys can come to experience it yourselves some day!
Anyway, what I’m going to look at today is something that’s essential in this summer heat – a good sunscreen. I’ve talked about sunscreens a lot in the past, but this time it’s the turn of Kose’s SportsBeauty range!
Kose Sports Beauty UV Wear
As you can guess from the name, this range is for outside sporting activities as well as simply spending time outside. It’s advertised as “protect wear” formula with resistance to sweat and movement.
There are 3 types available, 2 milk types and 1 gel type. So let’s take a look at the differences.
1. UV Wear Super Smooth
Milk type, 50ml, SPF50+, PA++++
Protects against strong UV rays, but feels light on the skin without any stickiness.

Compared to the two milky sunscreens, the best thing about this gel is that it comes off easily with soap. It has the same moisturising ingredients. It’s intended for slightly lighter use rather than strenuous exercise.

☆TIP: Should I choose a milk or gel type sunscreen?
In general,
Milk type is gentler on the skin and recommended for sensitive skin.
Gel type is recommended for people who hate any sticky feeling on the skin. It’s less likely to leave a white cast. The ingredients can penetrate the skin relatively easily, so it may not be suitable for sensitive skin.
Of course, sunscreens have changed dramatically over the past decades and thanks to research by various cosmetic companies, we’ve seen great improvements on all fronts. These days all types of sunscreens include more skincare ingredients and leave less of a greasy or sticky feeling.
Which one to go for?
The Sports Beauty UV Wear suncreams are great for me because I love sport even in the summer. Which one of them piques your interest?
Both the milk and gel types are rated SPF50+PA++++ so for everyday use either is fine. For strenuous exercise I’d recommend the milk type, but the gel type is easier to wash off with soap.
Personally I prefer milk type sunscreens. I usually put make-up on over the top, so I end up using cleanser in the evening anyway. If you don’t wear make-up, the gel type may be more convenient.
Buuuuut even if you don’t bother with make-up, don’t forget to put on sun protection every day! See you next time!
