Kose UV Gel and Suqqu Base Makeup: New for 2018!
Although it’s supposed to be spring still, it’s become extremely hot recently. I’ve talked about sunscreens before, but in this weather it’s really essential to prevent UV damage. This time I want to introduce some new products from two brands that are very popular on Wonect, Kose and Suqqu!
Actually, I’ve been having a rough time when it comes to my skin lately, but I’ll tell you about that at the end of the article ( ノД`)シクシク…
Kose Sekkisei White UV Gel
The first product is a sunscreen gel from Kose’s Sekkisei. The amount of gel you get in one package is large and the SPF number is high. As with other Sekkisei products, the gel includes oriental plant extracts which prevent your skin from drying out.
Key points of Sekkisei White UV Gel
- 80g per bottle
- SPF50+, PA++++
- Can be used on the face and body
- Watery texture, feels light on the skin
- A gentle floral scent as with other Sekkisei products
- Cares for your skin while maintaining a healthy, glowing tone with its oriental plant extracts (Touki, Job’s tears, peach leaves, porcelainberry)
- The Job’s tears plant extract helps to prevent skin redness
- Gel is smooth and easy to rub into the skin
- Protects your skin not only from UV but also from overly dry air and particles in the atmosphere
- Effective as a make-up base: helps keep foundation etc. in place
- Easy to remove with ordinary face cleanser or body soap
- If using the gel on your face, it’s recommended to use it as the final step in your skincare routine before applying makeup.
Suqqu Blooming Glow Primer
The other product is a makeup base from the popular brand Suqqu. As usual with Suqqu, the packaging is very simple. It gives off a feeling of purity that you hope will transfer to your skin…
For those who are concerned about skin redness, a base with a blue tint is recommended, so this product will be of particular interest.
The SPF rating is relatively low, so it would be good to use with sunscreen or a foundation that also has UV protection. Recently these kind of products automatically have moisturising ingredients, which is really great to see! (^_^)
Key points of the Suqqu Blooming Glow Primer
- 25ml per bottle
- SPF12, PA++
- Has light blue tones which filter out pinkness, reducing the appearance of blemishes and evening out skin tone
- To promote a subtle, glowing look, contains pearl which disperses light to reflect the most natural colours
- Has 3 different moisturising ingredients extracted from Japanese plants (someiyoshino sakura leaf, rose, peony root)
- How to use: Shake bottle thoroughly before use. Take one or two drops and spread the liquid out evenly from the centre of the face outwards. You can add a little extra to blemishes that bother you.
With regards to price, the Suqqu primer costs more than double compared to the Sekkisei gel. But personally I don’t like the feeling of gels. I feel like there’s some sort of extra layer stuck over my face… that’s kind of weird right? I wonder why I’m like that.
Anyway, I feel like there’s been a lot of progress when it comes to UV protection in cosmetics. Not too long ago, when you put sunscreen on your face it would either dry your skin out or make it feel really greasy. But we’ve definitely moved on since then! ((´∀`))
If you want a good finish for your makeup then the Suqqu primer seems like a good option. But if you want sun protection you can use for your whole body, the Sekkisei gel seems simple and convenient.
My sun protection strategy
I’ve mentioned it before, but lately I’ve been seeing a dermatologist. Thanks to them, the condition of my skin started to improve.
But then for some reason my skin became extremely sensitive, and right now even the slightest irritant makes it go red and itchy. Even taking a warm shower hurts. UV light is especially irritating to my skin so I couldn’t even swim for an hour without seeing an effect. I’ve been taking medication so I didn’t get a bad rash, but still…
So I’ve had to start going to the pool less often, and only on cloudy days. It’s pretty sad. The dermatologist told me that once your skin has become sensitive or have an allergic reaction once, it will react immediately to aggravating factors like stress or illness. Maybe it’s because I didn’t take any steps to prevent UV damage during the winter months. So I want to urge everyone to keep using UV protection. When it comes to most illnesses it’s obvious, but for your skin too, prevention is easier than the cure!
